Resume:
Kalman Graffi studied Computer Science since October 2002 and Mathematics since April 2004 at Technische Universität Darmstadt. He graduated with both Diplom-Informatik and Diplom-Mathematik degrees in July 2006 with his thesis "A Security Framework for Organic Mesh Networks". He was awarded with the second place award (out of 34) of Darmstadt's Competence Center for applied Security Technology (CAST) in the category „Best diploma/master's thesis“, endowed with 2000 Euros.

Major areas of his studies were communication networks, IT-security, and robotics on one hand and algebra, optimization, and graph theory on the other hand. He was not only the fastest student to finish university in his year, he also was the only doing two diploma studies in that time.

Currently he is PhD student at Multimedia Communication Lab (KOM) at the department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Technische Universität Darmstadt. His research focus is on the efficiency of peer-to-peer systems. For that he looks on peer-to-peer systems in three levels, on peer level, on overlay level and on the network level. With his studies he tries to create a framework to smartly combine existing optimization approaches at these levels in order to coordinately control the quality of service of the distributed system.
